I won! I wrote my first novel in 30 days (actually 26). What an amazing experience!

NaNoWriMo is on!

Novemember is National Novel Writing Month (NaNoWriMo)! I'm now 1/3 of the way through my novel. What a crazy and wonderful seven days so far!

...or Velcome! This was done in photoshop to look like it was cut from construction paper. Most definitely would have taken less time to actually just cut from construction paper.

Illustration Friday - Impatience

Topic is "impatience". Tried something different with using only a limited 5 color palette from Colourlovers.com. Made me have to think about how to use the colors which was good for me. Using flat brushes in photoshop too, another new thing. Trying to loosen up my work and use as few brushstrokes as possible.

Octopus...tech...thingy

Just playing around this morning, working on defining planes and edges. I always forget to flip the image over in p-shop and when I finally did noticed that the right side was wonky. Tried to fix that but still looks funny. Maybe will come back later and fix.

For a game project. Mecha from the Army of Ra (Sun/Falcon) and the Army of Osiris (Death). Will color eventually.

Roman Gorilla

This was for a contest at blackorcgames.com. They had a miniature figure you had to paint. Tried to go for a classic, dark painterly look.

This was for a Christmas card, but I didn't get it done in time, so it will be this year's card. Obviously playing a bunch of WOW at the time (the shoulders are a dead giveway), and probably looking at Ashley Wood art as wel (though I don't remember). Sketch -> Photoshop -> Painter

Sci-Fi Bear

I love drawing anthropomorphic animals. This is from a reference of a bear and the rest was made up as I went along, trying to define planes in a realistic manner.

And then one day the little birds flew away from the tree, and he knew from the way they were flying that they would not be back.
That night, he asked the old owl about it. The owl was quiet for a few moments.
That is the way of birds.
Did I do something wrong?
No.
I stood still even during the fiercest winds. I protected them from pounding rain that stripped leaves off my boughs. I kept the tremor of thunderclaps from interrupting their sleep.
You were a good home, indeed. The owl nodded reassuringly.
The tree thought about that and then sighed heavily, branches sagging.
I feel so...empty.
You are hollow.
Yes, that is true. But this is a different feeling than that.
I know.
The tree sulked a little and the owl saw something skittering in the moonlight and soared into the sky.
